What defines you as a person? What experience do you bring?
My interest in new things defines me, and I stand up for that, following a very wise saying by Theodor Fontane: “We should love everything old, as far as it deserves it. But we should truly live for what is new.”
I have worked in research and development for over three decades and believe I know how innovation management really works in practice.
Why are you a Business Angel?
It is fulfilling for me to make others successful, especially young, newly founded companies. If I can help startups, it makes me happy.
Why did you join BACB e.V.?
Because I was invited to join BACB – and I gladly accepted.
How do you support the startup ecosystem and founders?
By carefully passing on my experiences.
What is your vision for the startup scene?
All large companies today once started as startups (even Bosch!). That’s why we need economic conditions that allow today’s startups to grow. My vision is that such conditions are created and improved in Germany.
Which qualities should founders have to be successful?
Visionary strength, a basic understanding of business, tolerance for frustration, and great toughness with oneself (which could also be called persistence).
Which qualities should Business Angels/investors have to be successful?
The absence of know-it-all attitudes, openness, respect for young companies, and patience.
Final words to startups and founders?
Stay on torque (not to be confused with speed).
Thank you, Eike. We are delighted to welcome you to BACB.
