Wannsee Vibes and Entrepreneurial Spirit

With over 190 guests, blue skies, and Lake Wannsee as the backdrop, our summer networking event on June 2 demonstrated just how much energy there is in the startup and investment scene right now. People from Berlin-Brandenburg and across the DACH region came together to exchange ideas, make new connections-and enjoy the evening together.

A full schedule from afternoon through evening

The day kicked off in the afternoon with the Berlin Angel Fund’s (BAF) Portfolio Day. Startups, VCs, and family offices engaged in intense pitching and discussions-and it became clear once again just how important active investors are to the growth of young companies.

In the evening, our summer networking event took center stage. Oliver Kirbach opened the evening, before our CEO Tobias Wittich looked back on two years of continuous growth at the BACB. Sebastian Schwenke analyzed the current market situation and explained why business angels are so crucial right now-especially in times of declining pre-seed investments. Tuba Bozkurt rounded out the technical portion with a social perspective: Innovation flourishes where it is given room to grow.

Highlight: BACB Startup of the Year 2026

A full schedule from afternoon through eveninghighlight of the evening was the presentation of the BACB Startup of the Year 2026 award. The award went to dotch GmbH! Founder Veronika Pfender’s personal remarks impressively demonstrated just how much courage and passion go into a successful startup. The laudatory speech was delivered by Lutz Kettner, one of dotch’s first investors.

A huge compliment also goes to the strong competition on the shortlist: Nuuron, EVERSION, Clean Ocean Coatings, and vGreens.

BBQ, Beats, and a Big Thank You

The evening came to a perfect close with a barbecue, cool drinks, and a summery atmosphere. There was laughter and lively discussion, and the groundwork was laid for future partnerships and investments.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Berliner Sparkasse and the team led by Christian Segal for their wonderful hospitality, to Sascha Kempin for the perfect soundtrack, to photographer Elvina Kulinicenko and videographer Björn Tritschler for the great footage, and to all the guests who made this day unforgettable. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
